The day before Ramadhan

Monday, August 1, 2011

The day before Ramadhan was probably the most hectic schedule I had.
The husband needed to help his adopted family with the final shift to the new house. I was squeezing in some makan time with my family and was craving for Bedok Corner Char Kway Teow pretty badly.

There was also the Baby Fair at Takashimaya where I saw a 5-in-1 Baby Cot.
It can be a pinewood baby cot, playpen, junior bed and then I could not remember.
Got it for a price of $299 with mattress, delivery and installation.
The husband gave me a pat on my back for great sourcing.

*lol*

Since we were there, I showed the husband the breast pump I wanted to buy.

For $119, I managed to get additional breast pads and nipple cream.
I bought another 5 bottles and a small Avent bag to keep my milk cool when I nurse in the office.

Did you know that mother's milk can last for 2 days if stored in the fridge.
I didn't!
For first time mothers, I really encourage you to stick with the experienced mothers. They can really advise you a lot of things!
And I am really so happy that there are many who are willing to share their experiences with me!

So for first time mummies like me, this pump is really light, portable and works with 2 double A batteries.
Don't rush to buy your baby products. Whatever you purchase need to be comfortable for your preparation and the baby.

My mom thought I purchased a lot of things pretty early.
But to me, they are on sale and we need them. $50 off here and $20 off there and $100 off here, it can mount to quite a bit :)

But I also asked my mom if there was a need to buy warmer and steriliser etc etc.
Her answer was so simple.
"Alah orang dulu dulu tak pernah pakai tu semua."

Since then, I refused to get into the marketing gimmick and their upselling.
To date, the husband have spend almost $1500 on baby items and they are just basic necessities which we get at a good buy.
This is excluding my medical expenses and my constant eating cravings so it is very important to keep the finances in check.

Anyway, I just turn 16 weeks and I have not felt Junior yet.
I hope I can feel it pretty soon.

I was advised not to fast especially when I do have a history of gastric.
I am giving this first day a shot but husband advised me to break fast once the stomach starts to feel acidic.
There are many women who can do it. Many who can't.

I told the husband I am embarassed if I can't fast and so many other pregnant ladies can.
His reply was short and sweet:
"You have a bigger responsibility now that you have a life inside you."

Everyone is just able to give my questions a very snappy answer.
*sigh*
Maybe I worry too much.

Oh well, till my next mummy rant
:)

xoxo
