Two years ago today

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

Two years ago at this very day, I had the most wonderful time of my life.
It was a start to a brand new life being a wife. The day I promise to commit to my duties as a wife and mother.

The moment I was legally married, I felt myself unleashed from my past and was looking forward for the future.
I breathed fresh air.

I know this was the path I wanted.
The husband and I went through a lot to kick-start that life we wanted and we were very determined to keep going head-on.

We honeymooned pretty long, until dad got sick and passed away. That was when I was snapped out of my dreamland and into the reality pool.
Other than that, we were on the high and on cloud 9 all the time.
Our pictures were full of fun and silly things which truly spells out who we are.

Till today, despite our minor differences in character, we do see eye to eye with many more things. It is true that birds of the same feather flock together and we are one living example.

My best times with him is when we sit down and have a good chat about work, about our family direction and even reflections of life. It is amazing that I do learn a lot from him though I think he never mentioned that he did from me.
But I am sure it is vice versa.

I can only thank my husband for the times that he was there with me during my challenging pregnancy and the tough time I had to go through when I lost my dad. In fact, it is only now that I am recovering from the aftermath and smiling a little bit more than I usually do.

A few days after we got married, my dad spent a little bit of time to tell my husband this,"Even being the man in the house, always trust and consult your spouse because she will give you her most sincere opinion. Everyone else may have a hidden agenda. Your siblings even. But not your wife. She has your best interest at heart and you can trust her opinions."

That was one of the best advises my husband probably received. Today, it is very heartwarming that regardless anyone who needs his decision, he will always say, "Let me talk to my wife because I think she needs to know before I decide."

From there, I knew respect is earned.
He respected my existence in our family unit and as a wife, I must not compromise the same.

Building a family with you is probably the next best decision in my life.

And here we are today

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

If daddy was still alive, we would be celebrating his birthday.
I still miss him a lot. Never a single day passed without me remembering him.
We take our father for granted a lot because he gives in pretty easy and quick. Last year was the first time we bought for him a birthday present on time.

Him being him, every time when we asked him what would he like to have, his answer will always be,"Nothing."

Yes, it can get very frustrating at times.

Last year, we bought him a Timberland jacket which he managed to wear it on trips to the Philippines.

He is missed in many more ways and many times I wished that he would have lived longer and be in our lives a little while more.
But He is kind and He knows that this is the best for Daddy and us. I may not see it today. I may not understand it at all but I need to have some faith.

Many say he is in a better place. I tell myself the same thing too.
Insya Allah he is as we never stop praying for him and his well-being there.

Anniversaries from this year on will be bittersweet for me. When I got married, I knew it was going to happen but I didn't expect it to be too soon into my marriage. On the brighter side, I am glad to be sharing this special day with him.

I miss you Dad.

Here's to us!

A little more than a year ago, some of these girls may have bitched each other's back if one happened to knock the other off not watching her steps.
That was a possibility alright.

But you know what?
Thank God that didn't happen because a little more than a year ago, some of these girls met for the first time.
And because of schedules, there was very little time for them to gel together.
It's either they really hit off or they were doing it for me.

Yes, I am talking about my bridesmaids.
Sue was holidaying in China and came back just days before my wedding.
Can you imagine we already had pre-wedding rehearsals on the wedding march, song selections, finalising the outfits.
She truly went through a crash course.

I can fondly remember her being the only one coming over to my suite the night before my nikah with her heels!
"I need to practice the dance moves with heels!"

*lol*

What was really amazing was that the girls cliqued instantenously!!
It was a group with diversed characters and went grouped together, they are seriously the bunch you want to see in your wedding too.

After the wedding, all of us went back to our daily schedules.
Anita was travelling, Haya was back in school, Shikin was busy fishing and with her 2 kids, Sue was always busy (though life took a great turn for her after that!), Zaidah was trying to finish her Masters and teaching at the same time, my little sister was only meeting clients and clinching her dollars and cents.
I was busy focusing on pregnancy.

So when everyone have pretty settled down and realised that mid Nov to Dec will be another packed period for us, we decided to have awesome dinner before I gave birth.
It was the first time Anita saw me pregnant! Sue/Zaidah/Haya just saw me bigger.
*lol*

You cannot imagine the laughs we had.
We were noisy but it was really unavoidable. The simultaneously wacky things that comes out from Shikin, Anita & Haya were just non stop!

It did not have to be at the end of the evening that our cheeks were sore.
It was sore 30 mins after we gathered and remained that way through the night.

For the wonderful bridesmaid set-up my Lil' Sister arranged.
For the year that has passed since we had loads of fun.
For the laughters that we share and are super priceless.
For the title you continue give yourselves till this day a.k.a the bridesmaids, despite 1 year of being married.

and

For much more love, laughter, joy and being there.

It is indeed a sisterhood we found among ourselves didn't we?
Here is to us and many more years to come!

Hello November

Wednesday, November 2, 2011

Hello November.

I have touched my the number 3 of my pregnancy journey.
Yes 30 weeks and I cannot believe that even I am turning 30 in a few months time (though in May)
I think the anxiety of giving birth is kicking in but I am brainwashing myself that I have a mighty threshold for pain.

Oh well.. we see how it goes.

But I told the husband that if my waterbag breaks, we shall look at each other and laugh and head down to the hospital.
Yeah, something I need to do for myself before I get a panic attack which will be accompanied by the asthma.

My wonderful marriage turns 1 in November.
God knows where the time has gone to but nonetheless, I thank Him for the time I get to spend with my husband.
The happy times. The romantic times and of course we do have our rough patches.
Arguements if you prefer it to be called.
But the rough patches are really nothing compared to the engagement days and I am very happy at how our relationship evolved and matured.

I love it that we are so comfortable with each other and the companion have been enjoyable.
Above all that, my wedding day is still very vivid in my head.

The time I signed the agreement to be his wife.

Photobucket

He took his vow and promised my dad to take care of his little girl

Photobucket

He has not failed his duty a bit.

I can still remember right after he opened my veil, he said,"You are beautiful."
I swear for once it was a sheepish smile.
(yes, else my smile to him will always be the tak-tau-malu-smile)

Photobucket

And you can see from my face, how content I was that day.
My heart swelled, sprung and burst all at the same time.

November will be the month I need to focus.
Focus to get my butt off my bed and get some ground work going.

My house is still stranded with boxes and only the paint and some furniture in since we got our keys.
Thanks to the horrid asthma which made me phobic to head to my own house again.
I am giving myself 30 days to finish off where I started.

I need to have Rania's nursery ready and of course I am looking forward to furnishing my house, especially my love nest (aka the master bedroom)
It will not be fully furnished but we know it will be a comfy place for us.

I am pretty much surrounded by people who keep tabs of who carries what handbag, wears what shoes, buys which house, those who compares the size of their houses and how they furnished it.
It really makes me sick in the stomach when they ask when will my open house be.

There will be no open house.

I refused to clean the mess after I took a lot of effort cleaning the house to move in.
I know they would like to compare house furnishings and really see what my house is really like.
But I am not the kind of person who gives in to people like this and really I am not putting myself on the pedestal.

I'm a realist. Period.

Anyone's last comment, if they cannot find any is 'Oh.. she's a rich man's daughter.'
I will just smile.

There is no need to stand up for myself and neither any compulsion for anyone to know.
Of course, those who would love to come to my house (in fact I have invited a few) to play the Xbox Kinect or visit the baby or have tea and coffee or just a chit chat sesssion, me and the husband is more than happy to welcome you.

Many who have come to briefly take a look, loves the view of my house.

It is breathtaking for us.
I cannot wait to start cleaning up my house.

Reminiscing the last bit

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Photography is great because it helps me to recall really fond memories.
Things I would like to remember.
Things our generation to come can remember.

More importantly the former.
*lol*

Time passes so fast and when you flip back to your photos, you cannot imagine it had been quite a while.

So before I cut my fingernails, I snapped this.

It has been 4 months or in fact (as I counted in the toilet yesterday) 17 weeks since I got married.
I remember the times when I was 17 weeks before the wedding.

Always a fond memory.
Despite all the exhaustion before and after the wedding, everyday I feel blessed.

Official Wedding Photographs

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Today marks my 2nd month mark being married.
It is amazing how I still wake up feeling newly-married.

Many ask if I am enjoying the marriage life.
I am.
But truth is I am still trying very hard to settle down with the nitty gritty.

Anyway, despite all the busy schedules flying around, I managed to put the official wedding photos in a video and post it up on YouTube for those who would like to see.
Finally!

There are over 500 photos of which these are just selected pictures.
I have carefully picked the picture best describe the chronological order of the 2-day event.
Therefore, I truly apologise for not inserting those pictures taken with friends (of which there are a lot of them!)

This video is already 15 minutes!

Picture resolution are not so great and was really having a hard time uploading them with the higher resolution draft.
Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy it.

The Wedding Reception at Raffles Town Club - Part 1

Monday, December 6, 2010

I was working on the wedding pictures the whole time and realised that there are too many pictures to be placed in a single blog entry.
Here will be the first part of the reception on 7th November 2010 at Raffles Town Club - finally!!!

I got punked on the local Malay Radio Station on the morning of my wedding reception.
Apparently, the deejay tried to call me at 8am onwards but no one heard the phone rang
*lol*
Pengantin masih membuter!

But I did wake up at 9am, made myself a cup of coffee so that I will look perked up on my wedding day.
On that day, time seems to fly so fast!
The function was from 11am to 5pm but me & the husband only came down at 1.15pm for our first march-in.

We drove our wedding Cooper up and was surprised that there are so many people waiting at the foyer, mainly the husband's side who accompanied us into the ballroom.

I was just smiling ear to ear....
Oh well.. I was just smiling like that the whole day that is is quite embarassing to be caught on everyone's camera so animated.
*lol*

There was us on the way up from Raffes Town Club basement to the foyer.
The kompang team was also waiting for us..

Here we are, ready to go!
:)

And right as we expected, there was a group of my aunties who were already waiting at the huge doors of the ballroom!
I just could not help laughing!

Finally we got in!!!
:)

Then we had the silat to welcome us as husband and wife.

Guess what happen when we were seated?
The silat didnt start until my mak andam whispered to say that me and Alfi sat at the wrong seats.
I gave out a huge laugh and apologised that it was my first time.
I was so relieved when my guests laughed with me!

*lol*

Caught on camera!

Then once the silat completed, we moved to our dias only find the bridesmaids and my darling maid of honour made another gantry in right in front of the dias.

With so many girls asking for the envelope, what they did not know was that there was only ONE $50 envelope with the best man.
No one even to the $10 tier.
*lol*
After the wedding, when we told them about the bag of money we had, they regretted like there is no tomorrow.
In fact, we really did give in to their demands very easily.
All Alfi did was nod, yet they did not get the cue.

*lol*

The event was followed by a marvellous kompang performance done by Sri Wana

They also presented to us 2 Malay dance items by 4 cute little girls and of course my lovely bridesmaids, maid of honour ad one cute mak ayam did their dance! :)

The ballroom was quite huge and Alhamdulillah we managed to have a live feed of the event so that everyone can enjoy the moments with us.

Here are the rest of the events to share with.

I will be back with the final part of the reception which showcases another outfit and another gelagat.
Insya Allah, there will be more pictures to see when I get the official pictures from my photographer.

Let's hope the next entry will not come in too late!
:)
