Vagisil - Everyone's bestfriend
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
This should be everyone's best friend.
Well, it has been mine for the longest time! 10 years maybe! And I really want to share this with my readers.
For many years I have with sharing it with my lady friends and mummies but they seem to give me that 'ARE-YOU-SURE' look. I really cannot help but to give them the 'CAN'T-YOU-TELL-IM-SERIOUS' look in return.
Well, it all started when many ask me what was my secret to having flawless skin.
*cough*cough*
I do not have flawless skin. (Happy now?)I have a slightly an uneven skin tone and dark eye rings which I have to thank my genetics for that. Yes, dark eye rings can be genetic and I had mine confirmed by a doctor.
But I have to admit that I do have almost zit-free skin. I used to have a T-zone issue - long time back.
Of course Vagisil is popularly known as a cleaning liquid to wash and clean our lady bits. I always wonder why they have these products because we were taught since young to wash with soap during showers and during visits to the toilet. Nonetheless, I share with the ladies that I use it as a facial wash.
YUP. FACIAL WASH.
Ok, are you going to give me that face again behind the screen?
But truly, this is the one and only facial wash you will ever going to need. I am not a fan of skin solutions because I think they are overly expensive and I really do not have the capacity, be it time or energy to cleanse my face, use tons of cotton wools and toners which are overly drying to the skin. What more moisturisers. Gosh! I hate going to sleep with a sticky face.
So everytime I wash my face in the shower or when I need to take my abolution, I always do it with a 20-cent coin size of Vagisil. Wash it over my face and it cleans make up! Of course for waterproof ones, you need probably about $1 coin size of Vagisil. As for me, I only use foundation, eyebrow colour, eyeliner, blusher, sometimes a little mascara, rarely lipsticks which will be gone after a meal and too lazy to reapply again. So the make up washes off in a jiffy!
Why Vagisil as a facial wash?
1. It works on all skin types.
Vagisil is pH balanced so it is really useful for acne prone skin. As for me, I no longer have T-zone skin. In fact, it will not even leave your skin dry because of balanced pH. So really, this is truly a cheaper option to the many facial wash that you have been trying.
In fact, there are some of Vagisil formulation that contains probiotics and can help to clear up blemishes.
2. It is nicely scented.
I swear upon this. It is awesomely fresh yet sweet smell which is a bonus on top of the clean feel you have on your skin. Of course you can opt for the unscented version.
3. It is hypoallergenic.
I am allergic to 1001 things and when I knew that this formulation was hypoallergic, I was so delighted to use it without much thought.
It is really meant for delicate skin isn't it? Well, why not for the face.
4. It is way cheaper than your bottles of your skin care.
That I need not explain any further.
I am sure the gentlemen will have some reservations using them. Well, if you have a wife, just squeeze out some for yourself. She would not know the different. There is a large amount of love to be shared. Typically a bottle can last myself(only) for 2 months or so.
If you have yet to be married, well, just transfer it to another clear bottle. No one will notice.
Well, there was a day when I was home with the 3 kids alone and preparing lunch. I was happily cutting away the chilli and a couple strands of hair was tickling my nose. Without thinking, or more like a reflex action, I pulled those strands of hair away. Within moments, I felt the piercing heat from the chilli on my nose and cheeks.
I was panicking and had no idea what to do next. The pain was getting intense. I went to the toilet to wash it off and contemplated to apply some toothpaste on it to cool it down. But when I entered the toilet, I saw my facial wash aka Vagisil and I washed my whole face with it.
Trust me, the pain and heat subsided and I felt very clever. Vagisil is pH balanced, hence it neutralises the acidity of the chilli on my skin! Tadaa!
Someone I knew has eczema and when I shared with her about the pH balance of this, she used it as her shower gel. Apparently, she shared that it didn't dry her skin and she felt like the wash didn't rip her off her body moisture!
So ladies, if you are still wondering which facial wash can serve you best, I hope you will give Vagisil a shot. I'm pretty sure it can be love after first wash!

Initially, we thought it was just normal sniffles but since she had a history of bronchilitis, we took no chances.
We brought her to the GP and she was prescribed with runny nose and phlegm medication.
Usually, she would have recovered within 3 to 5 days.
But she did not.
I took her off the medication because I believe in her own self remedy.
She did not get any better.
Her mucus turned yellow and I was afraid of an infection.
Despite so, she was very good natured. She ate well (though she took a longer time), played well, though she had a tough time sleeping well due to her stuffy nose.
Then she started to have low-grade fever, ranging 37 to 37.3 deg.
So we brought her to a pead for a change.
She was prescribed with 4 different types of medication at 2.5ml each.
The most she had consumed so far was only 1.5ml.
In fact, one of my favourite GP I had for her would only prescribe 0.5ml and Rania would eventually be ok over a few days.
So having totalled to 10ml of medication, I saw a different side of Rania.
She became weak and refuse to eat, only wanting to drink milk and wanted to be hugged.
She shook a little when she slept and I cried. I did not leave her side.
I checked everytime if she was breathing.
Night time was not easy for us parents as well.
She would cry with her eyes shut and both of us will take turns to carry her, hold her in my arms and sleep sitting down.
I would wake up with my whole back aching but you know it was all worth it.
Things you would do for your own child.
It was just my bad breath but still soothing voice she wanted to hear.
My back rubs and bottom pats which she wants to feel.
A few days later, she started to have watery stools.
I knew it was a virus. Doc prescibed some medication but I did not give it to her so that she pass out the necessary virus.
Eventually, she developed a fever. Her first fever and I was anticipating so many things!
Pardon me becuase I am a first time parent with first time experience of a baby having fever.
I hydrated her as much as I can and gave her as much milk as she wanted.
I started her again on her night feeds. Anything as long as she consumes water so that she can urine out her temperature.
Trust me, it is very exhausting.
I went to another GP again and I fell in love with this one.
She advise me not to give the past medications as it may not be good for Rania in the long run.
I just love conservative doctors like that!
In the end, she just prescribed a nasal spray to clear Rania's nose. She said it did not matter if her mucus was yellow or green. If she develops a fever, give her 1.5ml of paracetemol and a lot of water.
Today, Rania is still having stuffy nose.
Occasionally she can't sleep and looking for my pats and back rubs.
But when she is awake, she is still a cheerful and happy baby and she puts a wide smile to my face.
Yesterday, you turned 10 months.
You still amaze Mummy and Baba in many ways. I cannot get enough of you.
I cannot get enough of your antics. I cannot get enough of your smiles.
The way you want to cuddle up to me.
This was Rania and I, both exhausted.
Those are really precious to me!
p.s: I love Rania's bedroom face. It makes me fall in love with her all over again!
Self-point to note:
I have always been blogging a lot about Rania.
Maybe it is about time I blog about myself and what I have been doing/thinking/contemplating.
Insya Allah, I am structuring the blog entries.
While creating them is a joy, the chore will be to think what comes next and next and after that.
Stay tuned!

I hate the greasy feeling and how the clothes stick on to them.
So really, I am a perfume person and not a moisturiser person.
When I found out that I was pregnant, this was recommended to me.
Of course there are also some who recommended cocoa butter and Vit E Oil.
However, feedbacks also say that cocoa butter doesnt work and I am afraid that Vit E Oil will stain my clothes.
So here it is!
I was at the Clarins counter and enquired about this.
The lady asked if I had used it before.
I shook my head.
She told me to use it after every shower.
I was puzzled.
Shouldn't we use it everytime the stomach feels scratchy?
And she mentioned to use it around the breast area, arms, thighs, backside and tummy.
My my...
I really thought I just needed to hit on the tummy.
I followed her advice anyway.
There was nothing to lose.
After shower, I slapped this all over my body.
No stains on my clothes!
Yay!
When I got into the shower after work, I was so amazed.
My skin was so slippery under water even after more than 12 hours!
That's how long the moisture is locked!
And no need to reapply between the hours!!!
To date, alhamdulillah while the tummy is growing, the stretch marks are nowhere to be seen.
I still hate my hands being smeared with the creams but this Junior doesn't care how Mummy's stomach is going to be.
Junior will just keep growing.
I know a lot of ladies who are pregnant and just got pregnant.
It feels great to be on the same wagon with them and 'recruiting' new onboards!
Twitter is much interesting.
We have moved past the wedding phase and now each of us are embracing motherhood.
I pray for these upcoming mummies the best.
It scares the shit out of me thinking of labour and birth but gazillion mothers did it.
I am sure we can.
At least I need to assure myself that I can.
:)

** I wrote this entry past 2am and forgot a very important info, highlighted in blue!**
Ok so let's admit this:
Ok so let's admit this:
Women are the only gender who menopauses.
They are more prone to breast cancer (yes, there are a small percentage of men who has it)
One of the things that hits us and we hate it is when we have urinary tract infection (UTI)
It is probably the most uncomfortable thing to happen in your life.
Better the pain of menstrual cramps where you can squeeze your tummy and curl up in bed than feeling uncomfortable with UTI.
When I was younger, I used to have it every few months previously and I did not understand why, despite drinking truckloads of water.
Today, I do not remember when was the last time I had it.
Since 80% of my blog readers are female, I hope this benefits them.
Something you want to keep in mind or make it a habit for the matter.
One of the reasons why we have UTI could be because our body (inside) is too heaty and we are not drinking enough water to flush toxics out.
So with nothing to urine out and the heat in the body, bacteria tend to breed at an accelerated rate.
Too much white blood cells and they are the ones trying to fight the foreign particles.
What we probably did not know is that it is the best environment for them.
Cranberry:
Cranberry is a great source of clearing our urine system.
Eat the fruit, drink the juice, have it in your muffins... whatever.
So have it as often as you can.
Seriously.
Water:
Water is always the best remedy.
Whether you are having a flu or feeling bloated, water is the cure.
It regulates the body temperature and at the same time 'absorbs' all the toxic through osmosis before excreting it out.
Water must an always should be your best friend.
Recommended intake is 8 glasses daily.
But seriously it should only be your minimum intake.
Drink as much water as you can but please don't overwork those kidneys till it fail on you.
Flush that toilet!!
I am one woman who is rarely at home.
Seriously.
Out with friends or family or even on dates (hee hee hee)
So really, I depend a lot on public toilets to do my thing.
Flush the toilet bowl before you use it.
Especially if there is a lady who used it before you, you can even feel the heat from her pee when you are doing your thing.
It nicely warms up your arse.
But here is the thing... The hot air is from her pee and it is nothing but floating bacteria.
And because public toilets have no form of water to wash yourself up, you are only allowing the bacteria to breed in between your legs.
So please, give yourself a flush before you use the toilet.
Have a fresh bowl.
This is a logic I heard from a nurse cousin of mine:
"Do you know why we can smell our shit? Because the shit particles are stuck in our nose."
One thing for sure, once I shit at home, I will wash my hair!
But anyway, same logic.
You must, you must have a fresh bowl!!

Now what happens when you are hit with UTI.
Quickly head to Watsons or Guardian Pharmacy and get Citravescent.
It cost about $1.20 now.
Previously, I bought it only for 50 cents.
Usually General Practitioners will also prescribe this.
Citravescent:
*sorry for the poor quality of photo*
Depending on the severity of it, you can take this effervescent up to 3 times daily.
Usually it will clear within a day, if not two.
If this still does not work, please see the doctor to have antibiotics prescribed.
I hope this helps.
Unlike before, talking about UTI is a taboo.
I never knew why.
But today, even we talk to kids about sex, so what is UTI.
