Welcome to the first day of Ramadhan!
The day many Muslims are waiting for.
This year, I especially look forward to it because I yearn to have the peaceful feeling and having situations drawing you to God.
The month where suddenly you are challenged with thirst, hunger, cravings, ego, patience and energy.
Unlike the year before, this year, I will be more determined in performing my terawihs in the mosque.
During the last few years, I have been increasingly disheartened to head to the mosque, though I live right smack opposite it. Probably only about 10 metres away from my void deck.
Numerous people think I am lucky and probably I am but I never quite made full use of the convenience.
Though I can be quite a feminist in many situations, I have and hate to admit that women create more trouble in the mosques than males.
Last night, the family went to perform their terawih only to hear a lady on the second-floor was screaming and shouting cari gaduh.
My mom, sis and I were on the third floor.
Like Oh My God! We are all at a place of worship aren't we? Why the necessity?
I am a procratinator. I will wait for azan Isyak before I head out from the house. It is probably less than a 2 minute walk. By the time we found a spot to pray, we have to put on the telekung and socks. Place a towel on the carpet where we sujud as I am asthmatic.
Once done, usually the bilal would have started to qamat and we would be catching our breath before we stood.
A lady, wearing a mini telekung, was standing up trying to don her kain sembahyang, turned to me and the ladies around me and said in english
"The imam has already began to qamat and you people are lazing around, not standing up. Masya Allah!"
Ya Allah!!! Dugaan ok!!!!
Good thing is that all ignored her. Including me.
Didn't even bother to give her a second look.
Mosque Law enforcers I would call them.
Apart from their stern looks, they will have pointing fingers flying everywhere.
Those who demands you to rapatkan saf.
Those who demands you to stand in a straight line when you try to give a little more space, know that some other person next to you will need to take up a lot of space during duduk antara dua sujud.
Worse, those who just pull you nearer to them.
Islam is a peaceful religion.
Let's altogether find our solace in a blessed month and ease everyone's ibadah.
It will benefit more than just an individual and imagine what a difference one person can make.
With that, I pray everyone had a smooth start to Ramadhan and moving forward.
I am having a better start than I thought.
Alhamdulillah, I can't be happier.
But, I am stressing that some of my baju raya are yet to be sewn.
Someone who knows a good place to tailor, please please please let me know.
Malaysia or SG, I don't care - Tell me!!!
My tailor of 12 yrs stop tailoring and now first day baju is hancur and I am so frustrated!
Just when I thought this year really nak bergaya with loads of baju.
Guess it is just not meant to be - yet =)
