You should see the piles of magazines I have on photography in my room and on my office desk.
A few weeks ago, or maybe a few months ago, I realised i have lost my canon extended flash 430EXII which I scrimped and save less than two years ago to get it which was a little over $500.
It pains me when I saw the picture of my lost darling. This was a test shot before I did my own shoot.
Today, the husband and I have 2 body kits, 5 lenses and a missing external flash. That is excluding our own individual compacts and a full Diana F+ Lomo which have been untouched.
Someone asked me if I was going to upgrade to a full-frame soon. I have always brushed the idea aside because there are many who said it is not the equipment but the photographer himself. My camera units are very dear to us and have a lot of sentimental value attached to it.
How expensive they were back then and how we saved just to enjoy the hobby.
Maybe in time I will just bring home a big brother (full-frame camera) to join his other siblings. But my next plan will be to put a 27" iMac in my new home so that can enjoy editing pictures. The Adobe Photoshop CS5 has been waiting to be installed for the longest time.
Few days before Hari Raya, I busied myself to take a family shoot of my sister-in-law. Toddlers are always a tricky take and there is a huge need to be very patient. There can be many reasons why they will not coorperate with you. It can be the weather or the outfit or the flash or that there are too many people in the studio.
It can also be because of the time they are in a single place.
But I was mentally set for it.
That was what photography is all about. Capturing the moments within that split second and have it remembered for life!
Alhamdulillah I did get good shots and with minimum editing, I got big grins from the parents.
Ok, and so being the opportunist, I got my maternity shots for the day too.
*wide smile*
I have been toying around with the idea of expanding my hobby but I have been too busy with work, Her Closet, family and the pregnancy.
The good thing is that I am more stable now and will really like to get this going before the Lil' Missy pops!
(no I am not planning to quit my day job yet because I really love to work)
So here is the deal and I am serious and honest! I would like to build my portfolio with photography. I want to just get out of the house and do some shoots.
I think at this point of time, the end product of the pictures will be more satisfying than the dollars and cents which may or may not come.
It is just a kick-start to get my techniques better.
