Facebook Ethics

Thursday, June 9, 2011

I am or have become more vocal in the past months.
Something which I probably have been trying to curb for a few years before I decided to unleash myself again.

It is mostly seen on my Twitter.
A microblogging which is hugely convenient for me to speak off my mind.
To those who may be offended, I apologise that those are self-opiniated and being such, I do not really care less about who feels what.

Yes, sometimes I do try to supress them but it will always come a time when I think I just need to voice it out.
So I am really not your nice blogger with happy things to say all the time.

Admit it, life is beautiful.
But many forgot the aspect that it can be a bitch.

Her Closet runs their home-based business largely from Facebook and I have to admit that Facebook is seemingly the most lucrative for Her Closet now.
With zero cost and reaching out to thousands, it is amazing how Her Closet has withstand through good and bad times over the past 3 years.

Still I thought anyone using Facebook, whether for personal means or for their business should follow some simple and basic ethics.
I especially hate (yes, I know hate is a strong word but my opinions are strong) when we are being tagged without permission.
Despite untagging them, Her Closet is constantly tagged by the same person.
After strike 3, I will usually block them out.

Worse, if we comment them to untag our names, they told us to untag them ourselves!!!
What the hell!!!
You tag, you untag.
The other side need not be cleaning up your work.
It is indeed cumbersome.

I think what brought me to write about this is when I was tagged and I did not have time to logged in to Facebook as I was not feeling well.
Then I saw from my gorgeous blackberry the owner of the picture actually said this:

"PLEASE REMOVE TAG IF YOU ARE UNCOMFORTABLE BEING TAG - NEED NOT REPORT ABUSE AS ALL OF US HERE ARE ON ONLINE BUSINESS... APPRECIATE YOUR ATTENTION.

Ok lady.. first that was in CAPS.
Secondly, do not tag people unnecessary. Your face or items does not represent us.
Thirdly, please do not have the cheek to tell us to remove your tag. I seriously do not believe how absurd your statement can be. If we do not like it, then you clean up the mess. Not us.
Fourthly, there are many of us here with an online business but we do not necessary act like you.
And lastly, it is about time that you give us your attention and address this.

To many out there, Facebook is a social network.
Respect it and if you can't respect those you tagged.
Spare a thought for them.
Don't make it troublesome for everyone.

Everything that you do involving someone else needs ethics.
That's is life.

Peace!

xoxo,
Mima
