The Wedding Project Part I

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Me and my fiance are 5 months to the wedding.
Yes, still no house yet.
Our schedules are crazy. It is really rare that we get to spend some quality time together.
I would not call sending me and dropping me off quality time.
But I am happy enough to see his face.

On a high-level, we quite have everything decided.
Wedding location, food, dessert, kompang, wedding decor & wedding make up.
What is left (for now) are the wedding cards, wedding favours and our wedding gifts.

Ah guest list!
THE guest list!
Apparently there are a lot, apart from relatives to invite.
I scare myself to combine the numbers.

I have planned my wedding in my head for a long time.
So today when reality hits, the ideas just keep getting better.

I will be engaging Fatimah Mohsin to make me look beautiful.
For me, she will do a trial make up and full set up of the wedding dresses.
I love her colours and the fact that she agreed to let me have a long train.

I love the fact that when I gave her my idea of wedding decor and the colours I want for my dresses, she nods and says it can be arranged.

That is what a bride needs!!
Someone to make her feel that her big day the best of all!

I really have a lot of wonderful things to say about her though only spoke to her twice.
The fact that she is flexible to switch my 'bilik pengantin' decor to a small dais at the moque and let the mosque keep for future wedding functions!
Now, that moved me - a lot!

I am planning to look 1.7m on that day and with a long train, let's hope I do not terpelecok and fall.
I was still very degil, kepingin nak dance R&B down the aisle with my 4 bridesmaid, 1 maid of honour, 1 best man, 3 page boys and 3 flower girls.
So that makes 14 of us going crazy on the red carpet.
I probably want to do Beyonce and then Shakira and bla bla bla.

*lol*

The reason why I can share with you is because till today, I still cannot have it happen.
The fiance is so against it.
Cheh!

So there we will walk down the aisle, slowly, demurely and smiling with slow soothing music playing at the background.
Our wedding song has been set.

The bridesmaid have yet to meet and get their dress materials from me.
The little ones age group have yet to be picked.
I could not decide if we should have them within the age group 3 to 6 or 7 to 11.
Where do I get rental/buy kids' tuxedo and dresses?

Oh yes!
Wedding rings!!!
I still cannot decide if I want a band or a diamond ring.

Wedding cloth materials for everyone has been bought.
My grandaunties, my parents, my brother & wife, most importantly, my Maid of Honour ie my Baby Sishter
Then it is left with my dad's siblings.
As much as I am not very much in touch with them, they are really great and show a lot of support.
I saw it with my own eyes with my brother's wedding.

Wedding gifts.
Both me and the fiance do not plan to give each other food materials. We will not even have a wedding cake! Unless sponsored!
*lol*
Each probably with 5 trays, it will be gifts that will look good on us.
Great Singapore Sale, HERE I COME!!!

But then again, on the high-level, we have figured everything out.
The nitty-gritty will exhaust me.
Ladies told me to enjoy myself because this feeling will never come again once the deal is sealed.

Which is why we try to capture every moment of preparing for the wedding.

This is 'The Wedding Project' Part I.
As much as I would not want to reveal so much, I will document as much as I can here and share whatever I can with you.

With love,
Mims
