Ok finally, the Phuket entry is here.
770 pictures taken to be exact of while I took 2 days on and off trying to edit.
It was not really about editing the photos.
It was more of which photos should make it to the blog since there are so many.
So here is the thing about Phuket if you want to make it as one of your holiday destinations.
Flight tickets are usually cheap.
I paid almost $900 for the whole family, taking Jetstar.
(I am still very phobia about Air Asia)
But the thing about Jetstar is that you cannot be sure which carrier you will be flying in.
It could either be Valueair or Jetstar itself. The thing about Valueair is that the engine always sound like it is going to break down on you during take off.
Both has plastic seats, expensive food and very old stewardesses, seriously with case muka dah berkedut.
The leading crew is ALWAYS tua.
The Malays are generally fat (for a flying crew) and tak jambu sangat.
The Chinese are skinny, some fat, some pretty. But if you wonder why they didn't make it to SQ, it's because they peylat lor...which makes it very sickening to listen to their announcements.
Feedback on Jetstar was that they will usually change your flight schedules, which suck and of course they will say sorry.
What else can they do? What can you do?
You paid for it oredi what!
So while our flight was supposed to be early morning, we took off at 10.30am so by the time we were airborne, me & Lil' Sis got hungry since it was lunch time.
So we ended up paying $5 for cup noodles.
At least kasi la $5 coupon for service recovery for flight delay or something. But I guess that is how budget airline works.
I, personally do not believe in budget airline.
Better pay $50 to $70 more and you know that you are really on a holiday.
So while air tickets were cheap, Phuket isn't.
Note: I did the least shopping during this holiday.
When I exited Phuket immigration, they gave out free SIM cards.
Darn happy cos I did not need to go around and look for one to keep in touch with my fiance.
Don't expect much in Phuket.
People walk half naked, without slippers and even the airport does not look THAT fantastic.
Hotels are expensive and always full house so it is really good for you to book your stays from SG.
Yes.. Go surf Wego for your convenient search for hotel and flight bookings.
Wego is a travel search engine NOT a travel agency like Zuji
Well, that was how I travelled over the past few years.
In the end, we stayed in 3 hotels during the 3 nights.
Andarika on the first night.
Approx SGD$140 per night but the rooms are huge and so gerek!
Even the toilet!
Second night was at Hemmingway's
New hotel just 1 minute walk from Andarika, it was opened in Nov 2009 so it is very new.
Lovely rooms, fantastic shower head.
I did not manage to get any photos cos I was exhausted.
Cost: 2000 Baht per room, per night (approx SGD$90)
Third night was at Ibis.
The worst among the 3 but definitely recommended if you are travelling with friends and getting a hotel room for the sake of sleeping in for the night.
Housekeeping is closed at night.
Worse, after a long hot shower, I was drying myself up and saw shit-coloured stains on the white towel.
Had to re-shower.
%&^&$^$(&!!!!
Cost: Approx SGD$100
It is a fruit and food galore there in Phuket.
My favourite was their guava and corn!
Muslim population is 35% and there are 51 mosques in Phuket alone.
We stayed at Patong Beach.
The worst beach to head down to because it is so cluttered.
I hate clutter.
You should try the other beaches, especially near the airport.
Cleaner, quieter.
If you are in Patong area, the most kecoh place will be Bangla Road but you will notice how dead it can be in broad daylight.
Our driver brought us to Promthrep Cape and the sight was wonderful.
He is Muslim man, soft spoken, helpful and doesn't talk much which I like.
I don't like kecoh-kecoh strangers.
I can sleep and snore like a pig yet I dont get disturbed by his laughter.
We paid approx SGD$80 for an 8 hour tour.
You just tell him where you would like to go or leave it to him.
An honest man cos like most tours, they will only bring you places where they can get commission.
But with him, you get to see places.
We have his contact number so if you would like to go Phuket, it is really advisable to have him as your tour guide.
Other places will charge you about SGD140 for a tour at the same time duration and gawd knows where they will bring you.
FYI, they do not have taxis companies like us.
Any car can be a taxi.
They will pick you up for a fee.
We were brought to the night market.
Did not think we could find much but guess what?
We found halal fried chicken!!!
Each part is about 15 baht (approx SGD$0.60) and it is so sedap nak mampos!!
I am serious.
Way better than your KFC or Popeyes or whatever lah!
So crunchy. So meaty-sweet. So oily. The skin is so crisp.
I had 3 pcs.
They sold every part of the chicken.
Nothing goes to waste.
So I had 1 wing, 1 breast, 1 ribs.
I am still drooling thinking about it.
We saw a Muslim making ice coffee and we ordered.
We tried speaking in an accent we thought they could understand.
"Hello.. 1 ice coffee. Less che-weet.. little shoe-gar."
Then smiled.
His reply?
"Ais Kopi satu?"
*faints*
Apparently there are a lot of muslims from Malaysia who migrate to Phuket for better living.
So are the Indians and Arabs (who are very big headed and I don't buy things from them)
Food at the night market is cheap and nice and it is a must go if you are there.
If you wondered how much is the ice coffee?
20 Baht which is about 90 cents our currency.
I appreciate good ice coffee.
I hate how coffee shops does it so cair. This is so thick and nice and fuh!
Me & lil Sis had one each.
I will be back with Phuket beaches.
It is a pretty sight but too many pictures to consolidate in a single blog.
Ok I am going to get ready for my 3pm appointment.
My skin is so tight, dry, itchy and coarse like sandpaper.
Sun-burnt.
Side of the cheeks and the whole forehead.
Bear in mind that I do have a high forehead so it attracted the sun more.
Been a long time since I had it and I am too lazy to do skin care cos I do not like the sticky feeling.
Help!
