Phuket! (14th Jan to 17th Jan) - Part II

Saturday, January 23, 2010

Sorry lahhh if the second part came late.
Life took too many twists in a day sometimes so there are many times I am so exhausted and the next thing I want to do is to surrender myself in bed.

Insya Allah, I will share the joy and many more joys in time to come.
Sometimes people wonder how I get by life.
*shrug*
We just do, don't we?

Before I rattle about the beaches and islands around Phuket, I forgot 3 other portions of the trip.
So many things kan!!

There are scooters for rent.
You can get it as cheap as 250 baht or as expensive as 350 baht per scooter per day.
There is no insurance for it.

My mom has this phobia about two-wheelers (except bicycles) and children.
So despite turning 28 and 24, she said we could rent the bike if there was a helmet and knee guard.
Of course there is helmet but over were our roller-blading days with wrist guard, elbow guard, knee guard.
Trust me it is a mother's thing.

So the father's thing?
He met halfway, which is why we always find him so awesome-ly sweet.
The driver brought us to a place where you can do go kart, shooting, elephant rides etc etc.
We gave all a miss except this:

A four wheeler with  my mother's blessings!
Wakakakka!
It is not as easy as it looks but it sure is fun.
The steering is hard and our facilitator was tired having get down on his All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and assist us while we both were giggling all the time.

890 Baht (approx SGD$40) for 30 minute ride through their jungle track.

If you go with a bunch of people, it will be fun.
But anything with my Lil' Sister is fun.

Note: I never stop smiling looking at this photo. She sooooo look like 17 with a 10-year-old girl stuck inside her.

Our stuck moments:

"Turn left.. turn right.. move hand."
That was what he said.. hehehe.. but it was really hard..

Lenguh tangan oiiiii!!!!

Mine was worse than Lil' Sis but then again there was no one to capture me.
It was all caught on video unknowingly. We did not know the small box in front of us was video camwhoring us!
We bought the SD card per video at 800 baht.

There was a time I almost had the ATV fall on me.
I suffered many bruises on my legs.
I stalled once.
I went into a thin tree and got stuck and the convoy was 20 metres ahead and they cant hear me shouting so I had to get off the ATV and push it back on track.
Scary!
But it was sure an adventure.

That is way off track (sikit ajer)!

Every country will have signage which will make us laugh.
I captured a few.

Little children who makes us laugh and smile during the trip

There is also a new shopping place like Factory Outlet in Phuket.
It so reminded me of Los Angeles.
But there was not anything much because not many shops are open but since we had a driver, we just did a quick tour.

We took a day tour to 3 beaches.
Maya Bay, Khai Island and Phi Phi Don
They quoted us about 2200 Baht (SGD $100) which is crazy.
We got it at 1000 Baht.
If you are keen to take tours, then 800 Baht to 1000 Baht is a good price.
Food onboard is usually included.

But I hate tours.
I never did like it cos it always felt like being in a Boot Camp.
Plus we only get to be at each beach for an hour.
A lot more time were spent ferrying.
We set of at 7.30am (yeah I know we are supposedly on a HOLIDAY) and came back to Patong at 6pm.
Transfer to ferry terminal and back to the hotel is included in the 1000 Baht package.

Scenery at the beaches are breath taking, Subhanallah, Masya Allah.
You will really see and Insya Allah appreciate the beauty of nature He created.
Honestly breath taking.

Welcome to Maya Bay!

We had to take a smaller boat to head to Khai Island.
Don't ask me how I get these pictures.
I really had to be quick cos there are a large number of people and we had to move move move to meet timeline.
Bummer!!!

And our traditional jump shot!

Our final destination to Phi Phi Don!
The ferry stopped for a while after Khai Island and we managed to take a few nice shots.

I thought we really look like twins.
You will have to take a second look to figure out which sister you are looking at.

Welcome to Phi Phi Don!

At the end of the tour we got sun burned really bad and was really exhausted.
The sea made us super hungry while on board and also when we were back in the hotel.
We ended up having 2 large fries, 6 plates of food, 1 hot dog, 2 salads and drinks.

One week after Phuket, my face is still like sand paper though it is doing much better now.
I am not a moisturiser fan so I need to bear the fact that it will heal a little slower than my mom or sis.
I hate turning dark and I hate sun screens.

That's it about Phuket and what we did.
It is a nice place to visit and you should at least go there once.
But do buy your own snorkling equipments. You can get it there for 290 Baht (approx SGD$10)
The tour do provide but mostly dirty.
Like got bintik-bintik hitam and when you bite on the snorkel mouth tube, it is a bit (or slimy enough) slimy.
Yeah, aku macam nak termuntah skarang.
*shakes it off the head*

So please, as much as I do compromise my hygiene when I travel, this one I could not.
It was too much to compromise!!!
*loud vomit*

OK, after this can go back to blogging my mind off.
This is really an effort.

You know what?
I hope you enjoy the pictures!!

Ever thought of going Boracay people?
xoxo
