Neither am i the kind who watches the news
What more the listening to the news.
But for the past few weeks i have been updating myself about the current news and affairs..
Thanks to Rommel who brings me the papers everyday when I am at Changi
I am not very interested about what is happening in Singapore.
When you wanna know the politics in Singapore, read an overseas newspaper.
Cos our local nespapers basically talk about crime and increase in taxes and community work.
Beautiful picture.
Not that i hate it. But i am too used to it.
I could use a good drama.
for now.
And i got it.
And i thought the drama would end after a while
But it didnt
Now i am emotionally attached to it.
Its one of the hottest news that probably Singaporeans and Malaysians would stay glued to.
Dr Mahatir vs Abdullah Badawi
Initially i wasnt exactly so disturbed about the fact that Mahatir brought up the issue about Abdullah.
I thought it would be just a temporary hype.
I mean this is him. To show involvement in politics. Its in his blood.
Why not?
He is indeed the longest serving elected Asian leader.
Leading Malaysia for the over 2 decades.
What totally pissed me off was when i ACCIDENTALLY watched the news today.
Yes.. watching the news is never in my agenda.
So this was what pissed me off..
Nazri's Aziz appearance on TV was.
The way he spoke.
His words that came out from his mouth. His hand movements that he made. The body movement that he made just ticked me off.
TOTALLY!
Why?
Cos it is so full of arrogance.
Full of temperament
Arrogance is one thing which i can't stand.
I mean who is he compared to Dr Mahatir? A doctor? A prime minister?(or ex for the matter) that he just chose the blabbed his arse off?
He is simply a minister in the prime minister's office.
Who is relatively young and green and adolenscent in 'big' politics like this compared to Mahatir himself.
With a load of arrogance, this was what he said
"We cannot take this lying down. Out of respect for him (Mahathir) we have kept quiet and not responded. He saw it as our weakness. I don't think we can take it lying down,"
also he said:
"Now is an open war, we go to war. We will go to war because he has declared a war on us. For two, three months we've kept quiet, we restrained ourselves, respecting him for what he has done for the country but he took it as a weakness and continued to attack us."
For goodness sake.. what is 2 or 3 months of silence compared to the 20 over years Mahatir acted as the prime minister who himself kept quiet until he crafted something fantastic to hit on people.
Mahatir had always been a leader who kept his emotions at bay.
He is intelligent.
Genius i would say
Who came up with the 'wawasan 2020' if it wasnt him?
And it was through this vision that Malaysia had obtained political stability and stable economic growth.
His projects with Proton and the upcoming Putrajaya are just a few which he focused and contributed to the country's economy
And it was also through this vision that they strived to meet despite the economic turbulence in 1997.
He never gave up on his country despite the downfalls he had, the critics he faces, the challenges he meets.
He was always concern about the Malays and their attitude.
An attitude towards their career
An attitude towards their education
An attitude towards their community
The malaysians are not necessarily the nicest people to live with.
Probably cos i am a Singaporean.
And Singaporean and Malaysians dont necessarily mix
And here was another thing Nazri added:
"He(Mahatir) cried, 'Malays forget easily'. Look who has forgotten now?"
But during Mahatir's reign, the Malays were given tons of funds for education.
Scholarships are an easy-get for the Malays
And the funds provided are good.
How do i know?
My brother studies in Germany.
Many Malaysian are there.. and when we asked, they get 900Euro every month excluding books and fees.
Mahatir knows his priority.
Education. Developing the generation today for the future generation.
What makes you think he is a shallow person if he was the one who came up with 'Wawasan 2020'
Didnt you think that there was a reason why "Dr Mahathir has vowed to fight on until the government reverses its decision to drop the bridge project to replace the Johor Causeway"?
Think people think..
I bet you cant.
So cant i.
But let me say this.
Yes Malays forget easily.
And the Malays tak pernah maju lebih jauh dari bangsa lain.
This is a fact.
Mahatir may forget a thing or two or even probably three.
But he is not senile.
So it is not a question of "who has forgotten now" but it is more of who never remembered in the first place.
I pity Dr Mahatir.
I pity him for taking pride in the Malays
I pity him for believing in the Malays to continue his reign.
I pity him for striving so hard for the country only to be slapped with shame and shit by his own people.
He placed his faith and groom Anwar Ibrahim.
But Anwar was too power greedy.
Probably never respected his mentor.
Anwar who got his own wife to run for the state election suggesting reformation
But how far can he go?
or should we say
How far did he manage to go?
His political reforms had been from a little to almost zero today.
But Mahatir had to put up with demonstrations of 'Reformasi' from the Uni students who were Pro-Anwar
Students who stood there with banners screaming and shouting ,"Reformasi"
Large pictures of Anwar Ibrahim which they carried during demonstrations
But then again,
These are the same student who were put to school by the government.
They did a favour for Anwar to go against Mahatir.
But what has Anwar done for them back?
Ensuring that these kids have a bright future ahead of them?
Anwar cant even manage that amount of supporters, yet he wants to try and overrule Mahatir?
So "Look who has forgotten now"?
What had these Malays done to repay the support that Mahatir had extended to his own race in his own country?
Nazri continued saying:
"He has done so much damage to us, I don't think he loved his party. I don't think he loved the country. He went back on all his words. That's why I am disappointed and disillusioned. I can't accept the fact that just because he is angry with one young individual, he is prepared to burn the whole party. He is not a rookie politician. He should know better."
Damage? After 20 over years of trying to fight for his country then someone come up to say that he had done a lot of damage? Then why wasted his time?
I proved my point so the rest of his sentences were just a waste of his breath.
After Malaysia thrive many of its rewards, he(Nazri) can still say
"If he wants to go, go! I don't think UMNO will cry and stop him. Because he acts like an opposition, he might as well be a jantan and leave the party and fight us like a true opposition."
In the first place, if Mahatir was fake, why was the rest faking it too asking him to stay then?
Mahatir once spoken,“ I think I may have made some mistakes, but I can’t regret the decisions that I have made although they may have been unpopular. I believe I did those for the good of the country.”
I've always admired him.
For his soaring determination.
For his intellect that no one could come to par.
Let's not penalise him for the mistakes he made.
When he chose Anwar as the Deputy and wanted to groom him for Prime Minister
Or when he choose Abdullah over Najip to be the Prime Minister
But let's admire his courage to manage a country many times of the red dot.
Let's admire his courage and capability to stand up for his race and religion
Let's admire his guts and brain for standing up for his country and showing them openly in conferences.
Let's admire the way he handles politics when he speaks something.
I have always loved his speeches.
People have respected him.
Probably the non-Malaysians respected him more than the Malaysians.
Again it is the Malaysians that ruined him.
Trust me. He wouldn't have retired if he was power greedy.
I mean look at him now. Despite his age, he is still mentally and physically fine to run for another term as a Prime Minister.
But he believes in giving opportunity.
But each time an opportunity was given, it was always taken for granted.
His biggest mistake was probably to join politics.
Cos if he didnt, these things would not fall upon him.
Then what would happen to Malaysia?
Let it be then...
The people do not appreciate it anyway.
Let them be dictated by other super-power countries just like the many in this world today.
Why bother?
Yes I am a Pro-Mahatir
I have always been a pro-Mahatir.
Because i think he is a whole human being.
Well-versed in politics and religion.
Call it favouritism.
But sit down and listen to him talk.
No one has ever beaten the way he spoke.
Smooth.. Nice.. and definitely and always a killer...
