We do.
It is no different from other Singaporeans as well. So while we thought about no.2, we realized that we hardly sat down and did finances for Rania. For her medical, Child Development Account and her endowment for her education.
So few months back, we sat down and looked through our finances. Alfi is always concern about making sure everything is enough for the family and that we can overcome our costs. It is still not too bad for us. While we no longer lavish on things like before we had Rania, I thank God that we are not counting our pennies either.
We just wanted to be conscious about our finances. To be honest, it was not easy trying to settle down into my new house in Ang Mo Kio where we spent a substantial amount and then I gave birth and we spent another bit moving back to Eunos to do up the room for Rania and us. Then worse, my health condition went downhill and medical costed us a huge bomb.
Till today, I owe it to Alfi for taking care of us very well.
So we thought of budgeting $50 every month into Rania's Mighty Savers. Just a small sum each time without hurting our pocket. Then I came up with a very fun idea.
Keep the change for Rania!
So whenever we spend, we only use the notes and keep the coins into her bank.
The last time we collected coins, we first bought ourselves Rania's cherry wood 5-in-one baby cot at Taka Baby Fair sale for $299 and then a Krups Machine also on offer for $359. Awesome isn't it?
So today, we empty her coin bank every month and find joy counting the coins. The more we saved, the prouder we felt. Then we will make a trip to the bank and put in all the coins. We would cheer with Rania every time the money has been successfully saved. (that is how hip we all can be)
Maybe, this will help you save or save a little more for your child.
How do you save for you little one today?
xoxo
Hi mima... i bought for my 2 children, 4yr old son & 4mths daughter, each a transparent Coin bank bottle (from either Kiddy Palace/ Metro). Each time i recd coins from shop or in my coin pouch, i myself or will ask my son to put it in to those bottle equally. & furthermore, it can read your dollars each time u saved. Now for both have finally reach $100 since i bought it 4mths ago.
ReplyDeleteI am glad i did this very very early...want to save for their future n education. I even taught my son to self deposit coins to his POSB Savings & he loves to do it, hearing those "kching kching" sound....
i am glad u started it early tooo...well done
Hi Fedah,
DeleteThat is great. Actually, my method is still ok for me since I only have one child. So while we plan to save for her $50 a month and by saving the coin, we always doubled that easily, excluding the money people give her randomly, i am always thinking how I can save more when I have more children.
Your idea is great too! It is awesome. So when no 2 comes, I will have coin banks for them and put in the coins equally. I think saving is very important as medical and education which is key in Singapore is not cheap.
:)
