It all seem so short, despite taking leave on Friday and the following Monday.
I was so close to take the Tuesday off from the office to stay another night in KL.
But come to think of it, I would definitely be spending my New Year in KL.
So I decided to head back to work.
I am going to be a Malaysia critic in this entry.
(For the shallow ones, critics aren't necessary bad)
I love road trips especially when I am not the one driving
And especially if the journey is from SGP to KL.
I survived a 26hr road trip from Paris to Munich during winter.
Poor daddy for having to make a few pit stops to sleep
Poor the rented Merc cos it was trying so hard to contain the shopping at every space it has.
It has been a long time since the family went up to Pahang.
I have no idea whether there was a highway or not.
But dad went through the one way road.
Lovie had advised me to sleep cos the trip was boring.
But looking at the way dad overtook cars, I was pressing on the brakes with him when cars on the opposite lane gets too close.
*lol*
Still, I enjoyed looking at the greenery, listening to the music from my iPod.
Those who appreciates nature, will understand how soothing it is.
It was just the long winding road, the scenery and my thoughts.
Malaysia really has a lot of potential for growth, unlike here in Singapore where everything is so cramped.
Housing is so petite. Kids don't get to play at the front yard anymore.
Singaporeans spend most of their time studying or working, stressing themselves up like nobody's business.
In Malaysia, people are more laid-back. Much more.
Hyatt Kuantan was full so we had to go the alternative hotel available.
That was my first time visiting.
Was it Swiss Garden or something?
Nice view around the hotel
We took ourselves a family room and suffered 2 nights with 1 toilet
The coffee house is very cosy at night.
Sadly, the food sucks!
Coffee house band was terrible. The sang my favourite Norah Jones song so horrendously.
The following night was the wedding night. The reason why we came to Kuantan for.
I was dolling up for a good 90 mins (like going through a soccer match without sweating)
Usually for weddings, I don't really bother how I look.
Not this one.
I made sure every inch of the face was properly done.
So here was I - ready to go
I had to try looking my best cos it was going to be a wedding with a lot of mak datins who would try to outshine the other women attending.
I was indeed stressing out to Lovie on the phone, even hours before the event.
We arrived and walked down the red carpet.
Papparazzis were everywhere!
I stood close to lil sis, trying to be her shadow.
Mom and dad were talking to dad's business contacts.
I looked around. I smiled.
It wasn't hard to outshine those who were there!
Still me and Lil' Sis stood behind mom, like her tall dayang-dayangs
Mom and dad will introduce us as their daughters (duh!) and we would give the sweetest smile ever!
They would say in their Pahang accent,"Eh dah lama tak jumpa. Dah besar tinggi satu-satu.
Tinggi is not so much of me la esp when Lil' Sis is around.
I will seem so much shorter with her than the technically 5cm difference.
*roll eyes*
We sat and waited.
The ladies sharing the same table started to gossip
Wooooooookey!
The men too!
What the hell was going on?
I stayed quiet. So did mom and Lil' Sis.
They start talking about the plate quality, about having to wait for 30 mins and still the event has yet to start.
They talk about the berkat
Can someone bring me a masking tape?
Then there was someone talking over the microphone telling us to rise.
I didn't hear the rest of the sentence and then everyone in the hall stood up.
I looked at Lil' Sis and then we looked at mom and dad.
They too were standing.
So we followed suit.
While everyone was looking towards the red carpet, there was the 2 sisters asking their daddy what is happening.
It was Tengku Mahkota Pahang coming through!
Then was the gorgeous bride and groom.
The bride was seriously gorgeous. She was smiling throughout the entire occasions.
Which made me smile as well!
I have been to weddings where the bride muka oh so masam macam kena paksa kahwin? you know!
So here were the rest of the wedding photos
The bride's father standing watching from far
The VIPs
The cutting cake ceremony
These were the only photos which we took at the wedding.
Don't want to be seen so vain ma!
On our way back from Pahang, we had a taste of buying goreng pisang along the road
And a taste of the cute kampung boys
Approximately 5 hrs later, someone was whooping for joy!
And the ladies were all smiles cos there was finally SOMETHING to shop
COS WE WERE IN KL!!!
During my stay, I managed to talk to Lovie's mom on the phone on several occasions
She was telling me about the new shopping centre in KL
Pavillion
So understanding kannnnn!!!
KL now has a new excitement for me cos Pavillion has everything I was looking for
Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Naf Naf etc etc
and best of all, they have
Yes! The Loaf!
Me being a bread freak, I was seriously squealing at the range of bread they sell.
Plus, if converted to our SG currency, it is relatively cheaper than silly sandwiches from Spinelli which I have almost every morning. Or even Starbucks & Coffee Bean!
Trust me, I couldn't wait for the next trip down to KL.
