Eid Mubarak All!

Saturday, September 25, 2010

Thank God Eid is for a month, else this blog entry very basi already.
But I think it already is lar...
*lol*

Thanks to Twitter, it is able to let up provide spurts of updates and having our friends be in touch with it.

So about Eid, it is a good thing that I keep spare baju kurung for nothing and buying appropriate dresses at the very last minute.
That was how I survived with the Eid outfits this year.
It has been a culture I adopted for the past year to make this baju kurung.. make that.. then see a hijab which I think matches and buy.
My closet is exponentially growing.

In fact, yesterday, I bought 4 silk outfits to be sewn in our traditional malay outfits.
I had enough of thick itchy laces.. though I will still wear them, it will not be as often as before.
There will be weddings and blah blah blah to attend later with husband-to-be so I am keeping these for future use.

Knowing my spending and fashion habits, I have forewarned by fiance that when we move to our home, his wardrobe will be in the next room!
*lol*

Anyway, there were not many family photos taken and if you notice, my family does not have any family photos taken on the first day of Hari Raya.
Never once for the past 28 years of my life.
It is sad because everything, no matter how much planned, is very last minute and we end up rushing out of the house.
Oh well, next year, I will start the trend and I have already pre-empted them.

Here are the pictures on the first day of Eid.

The party always starts late at night when the OWLs get together.
The group this year is smaller the previous one but still we had a lot of fun and didn't want to waste the pretty!
*lol*

Selamat Hari Raya!

Second day of raya was zero pictures because ... because.... *lol*

Third day was visiting my maternal grandmom's side.
Visited the elderly who needed a lot of TLC from us.

And in the midst of visiting, a bunch of children came by. We thought it was my granduncle's grandchildren.
But they weren't.
They are a bunch of siblings who do random house visiting and get to have carbonated drinks, sweet cakes and to top it off, Hari Raya money.

As I have understood it many years ago, it was a culture back during my mom's generation.
Not mine and neither would I imagine the current generation.
But to see them all spunky, wide smiles and getting comfortable, I cannot help but to snap photos of them and gave them the minimum $2 Hari Raya gift.
Mom & one of aunties gave their share.
So did the home owner.
So that is quite a bit for you kids!
*lol*

It is the season of celebrating anyway.

Eh Cik Abang kiter tak sabar eh depan nenek check sampul!
*lol*

Last weekend, guests continue to stream in and we had to steal time to go visiting!
Here is me with my first trial wearing a dress on Hari Raya.

Visiting continues and it still is.
Guests came over to my house though things have slowed down for now.

Mommy's grandmother hormones are kicking in.
She is telling everyone how she cannot wait to be a Nyai.

*smiles*

The icing on the cake?
Group HUGGGG!!!
*smiles*

It is amazing how I am all smiles around them!!
I promise it would not be long till the next blog entry.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my apologies if there is anything in this blog which may have offended anyone.
I do try to be diplomatic though sometimes I omit them in my entries
*lol*
